Although I had attended WPPI for many years, this year was the first time I had submitted a print for competition. I was a little nervous about submitting and even more nervous when the competition began. To my surprise, I received a 16×20 print competition award of excellence. When I was browsing the gallery of award-winning prints with Alice and Jeremy, I could not believe my print was hanging there with prints submitted by the world’s finest photographers. It has taken me a long time to get to this level, and I can truly say it was not easy. I could not have achieved this without the support of Alice, my family, Jeremy & Zabrina from JEZA photography, and of course Scott Robert Lim. All of you have pushed me to submit my work and given me your honest feedback to help me succeed. I know I don’t like to hear criticism about my work, but I believe listening and making change makes for a stronger person. I feel this is only the beginning, and I am excited to see what 2013/2014 has in store for me.

A chat with Scott towards the end of WPPI made me realize I am on a certain path and have achieved some of my goals. I was mentioning to Scott there is so much more to be done, not just with photography but also on a personal level. I’m always looking forward to new challenges and this just motivates me more!
